Sturton by Stow Primary School

Music

Music is taught in each year group as a stand-alone subject but also used to enhance other areas of the curriculum.

We have a weekly whole school singing assembly. We use Charanga as a teaching tool and Sing-up to support our singing.

Sturton has been awarded the Gold Sing–Up award in recognition of the variety of singing that takes place in our school.

All children have the opportunity to learn a musical instrument with whole class lessons delivered by the Music Service and learn to play the ukulele while at Sturton school. There is also a Recorder and Belle Plates group for children in KS2.

We also offer keyboard, guitar and drumming lessons for any children wishing to learn to play an instrument.

Sturton has a strong choir who attend many events throughout the year, the highlight of these being Young Voices.
