Summer: Term 1
During term 4 we will investigating rocks. We will be exploring different types of rock, how they are formed and the properties they possess. We will also be thinking about the process of fossilisation and what fossils tell us about the past. To investigate our exciting new topic we will be undertaking lots of practical investigations and thinking about how to create scientific predictions and conclusions.

This term our history topic is the Stone Age to the Iron Age. We will travel through time to discover what life was like in the Paleolithic, Mesolithic and Neolithic periods, looking at how people lived, hunted, made tools and shaped their environments. Lessons will be hands on and investigative, encouraging curiosity about everyday life in the past as well as the big changes that occurred over thousands of years.

Our writing this term will include pieces to entertain. We will be writing a historical narrative linked to our book, 'The First Drawing' written by Mordicai Gerstein. We will also be writing Haiku poems thinking about the structure and style of this type of poetry. Our whole class reading will incorporate all of our VIPERS skills and initially be based around the book ‘Stone Age Boy’ written by Satoshi Kitamura.
