Welcome to Eagles Class!

Miss Elliott, Mrs Hand and Mrs Moulds would like to welcome you to the Eagles Class webpage.  Here you will find out about what the children in Eagles will be learning each term, along with any other important class information.

Autumn Term 2  - 31st October to 19th December 2017 (Science Exposition)

In English we will begin the term by focusing on narrative writing. We will work on building characters and plots and improving narrative writing techniques whilst writing mystery stories set in a Science Lab. Following this we will improve our explanation writing by explaining our experiments and results in Science. The children will be tested on their Sturton Spellers words over the next few weeks. They will be encouraged to learn their words at home.

This term we will continue to develop addition and subtraction understanding. Later in the term we will focus on multiplication and division. As the children build on their calculation skills we will be applying those skills to develop reasoning and problem solving skills.

This term we will be investigating forces and magnetism. The children will design and undertake their own investigations which they will present at the end of term learning celebration.

In Geography we will be using maps, atlases and Google Earth to identify continents, specific countries and their capital cities. We will investigate symbols used on maps, including ordnance survey maps. The children will learn about lines of longitude and latitude, and environmental regions of the world.

This term we will use animation programmes to improve animation skills and create short films using iMovie.

We will be spending this term improving painting skills using a variety of paint mediums. This will be linked to studying famous still-life artists and their work.

This term our Multi Sports Pro coach will teach the children gymnastics. This will be on a Tuesday. The children will also be doing Games on a Wednesday or Thursday. Please ensure the children have appropriate PE kit in school on these days.

This term the children will continue to learn to play the Ukulele with Mrs Hodges.

This term we will be continuing to think about Hindu beliefs and lifestyles.

Learning Behaviours

Our Learning Behaviours this term are Curiosity and Questioning. We will be encouraging the children to approach their learning with a curious mind set and form questions to help them focus on discovery.
