Welcome to Eagles Class!

Miss Elliott, Mrs Hand and Mrs Madin would like to welcome you to the Eagles Class page.  Here you will find out about what the children in Eagles will be learning each term, along with any other important class information.

Term 5 Social Enterprise

Learning Behaviour:  Collaboration

Our Learning Behaviour this term is Collaboration. We will be supporting the children to work collaboratively both in class and in their Chatter Groups.

In reading we will be focusing on the book The Velveteen Rabbit as a whole class. The children will also participate in small group reading sessions and complete individual reading tasks.  In writing we will begin the term by linking to Art and looking at biographies of famous artists. We will consider what the features of a biography are and focus on these to produce our own effective biographies. Following that, we will continue our reading topic of The Velveteen Rabbit and write our own narratives about a favourite toy that becomes real. We will also continue our daily spelling lessons and regular grammar and punctuation lessons and build this learning into our writing.

This term we will complete the last of our fractions and decimals learning. We will then begin our Measures learning which will include comparing, adding and subtracting units of length, mass and volume. We will also be adding and subtracting amounts of money and giving change. We will find the perimeter of 2d shapes and complete some learning about time.

Is important that the children are developing their rapid recall of multiplications and related division facts. Many of the children are progressing well. We will continue with our weekly multiplication test and practice in school whenever possible. The children should also practice at home on a regular basis.

We will be learning about plants this term, including investigating what plants need to grow well. We will also learn about flowering plants, plants as food and seed dispersal.

In History we will be learning about the changes in Britain from the Stone Age to the Iron Age. We will create a time line of this historical period as well as finding out about hunter gatherers and tools. We will learn about Stonehenge, beliefs and daily life. Pop into the classroom to see our replica Stone Age cave!

This term we will be learning about programming. We will begin by programming using Scratch and move on to using Flowall.

We will be linking art to our Science learning about plants. To support us in this we will have some special lessons delivered by Miss Neal from Pembroke Academy. We will also begin working on our pieces for the Sturton Show.

This term our Multi Sports Pro coach will teach the children athletics on a Tuesday. The children will learn Tennis on a Wednesday with MRs Hodges. Please ensure the children have appropriate PE kit in school on these days.

Towards the end of term we will begin learning the songs featuring in the end of year production.

The children will be exploring Jewish beliefs and lifestyles, including the Ten Commandments, Yom Kippur and the Torah.
