Welcome to Eagles Class!

Miss Elliott, Mrs Hand and Ms Church would like to welcome you to the Eagles Class page.  Here you will find out about what the children in Eagles will be learning each term, along with any other important class information.

Term 6 Putting on a Show

Learning Behaviour:  Creative and Critical Thinking

Our Learning Behaviours this term are Creative and Critical Thinking. We will be supporting the children to develop their thought processes to build on their thinking skills.

In English we will begin the term by finishing our stories based on The Velveteen Rabbit. We will then link this to our Computing lessons and Word Process these to present them for display around school. Following completion of our stories we will write our own poems based on a theme which we will practise performing. We would love to perform these to you so keep an eye out for a date to come in and watch this. We are also aiming to become more familiar with play scripts.

This term we will begin with improving our skills of telling the time to the nearest minute and using these skills to solve a variety of problems and apply them to reasoning situations. We will then move on to learning about the properties of shapes, including angles and perpendicular and parallel lines. We will end the term with some work on statistics.

Is important that the children are developing their rapid recall of multiplications and related division facts. Many of the children are progressing well. We will continue with our weekly multiplication test and practice in school whenever possible. The children should also practice at home on a regular basis.

We will be improving our skills of Working Scientifically through conducting a range of investigations linked to States of Matter. We will focus on predicting, observing and concluding.

In Geography we will learn about Earthquakes and Volcanoes. We will learn what a volcano is, what happens when it erupts and where volcanoes can be found. We will learn about what earthquakes are and why they happen. We will also find out how the strength of an earthquake is measured.

In computing we will work with Microsoft Word to present our completed stories and poems, including formatting and editing texts.

Art and DT

We will finish out paintings for the Sturton Show then begin our Sewing pieces which will feature poppies, linked to this year being the centenary of the end of the First World War.

This term our Multi Sports Pro coaches will teach the children Outdoor and Adventurous activities on a Tuesday and Archery on a Thursday. Please ensure the children have appropriate PE kit in school on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

We will continue learning the songs for the Summer Show and begin rehearsals for the production of Shakespeare Rocks!

The children will be learning about Jesus as teacher and leader in his own time, and today. They will be learning about stories about Jesus as teacher, healer, leader and life-changer.

I hope the children enjoy their final term in Year 3.  If you have any questions or concerns, please speak to me or one of the other members of the Eagles team.  Miss Elliott.
